Packing for Tulúm

Maybe you have seen my mood board. Times flies. Now it's only a couple more days until we are leaving for Tulúm. Here are some of the things I will pack:

Boho blouse, vintage Levi's shorts and vintage leather bag, a bracelet that my sister made for me, "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt, and hair perfume by Byredo.

Lookbook Love: Lack of Color

I rarely post lookbook or campaign photos, but these are so perfect, they leave me no other choice. They were created by Brydie Mack behind and Alex Spencer in front of the camera (what a dream team!) for the Australian hat brand Lack of Color.

Sadly, I don't know what clothes they used for the photo shoot, otherwise I'd go buy the shirt, jeans and dress right now! I suppose we're looking at vintage clothes (another reason to run to the nearest thrift store).

I absolutely love the feel of the photos - and cannot wait for summer now.

Hola Hombre!

Maybe you saw my post about fringed jackets. I struck gold on Etsy (definitely go for a vintage jacket in lieu of the expensive designer version – which was inspired by the classic/vintage jackets anyway!).

I wore my jacket for the first time yesterday, as part of an early spring look. My jeans are "Pop" by Acne, the boots are Chloé's "Susanna" boots, the bag is by Saint Laurent, the shirt is by Isabel Marant for H&M and the belt came from my mother's wardrobe. Oh, and the necklace, which you can barely see on the photos, is by catbird

My kind of "do"

What can I say, I'm not a "hairstyling person". Attempting a blow-dry, putting some "texture spray" on my hair, or wearing my hair in a chignon is as good as it gets when I try to style my hair. Maybe I am not patient enough or I simply lack the talent. But then again I like messy, kind of undone looking hair.

Here's some styling inspiration for easy and cool hairdos. I really want to try out the low, messy braid. ... And remember those tiny braids from your primary school years?

A spring edit

I'm on a "no shopping" diet – with Mexico ahead of me and a big investment behind me, I do not allow myself to go anywhere near a shopping street. There's just one little problem, obviously ... the internet. Here, the rule is: looking but no buying.

So when I surfed around some of my favourite online stores and put together a wishlist for spring, it was purely hypothetical, exclusively for inspiration. A visual reminder, in case I come across something very similar in, say, my mother's wardrobe that I can "borrow". ...  You know what I mean.

So, without further ado, here it is. Eye stone ring by Sophie by Sophie, printed blouse by Zara, snake effect boots by Topshop, jeans by Steve J & Yoni P via Net-a-Porter, suede fringe bag by Proenza Schouler via Matchesfashion, earrings by & Other Stories, belt by Acne Studios via Net-a-Porter, leo flats by Gianvito Rossi via Net-a-Porter, suede skirt by Topshop.

Welcome, Saint Laurent Sac de Jour

I have already given you a sneak-peek (and if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen it already): there is a new bag in my life.

Here's the backstory: My Proenza Schouler PS1 has been my favourite everyday bag for years and – as much as I still love it (a lot!) – I felt I needed a more sophisticated, a little more "grown up" bag beside it. So I thought about it and thought about it and after a while I felt very good about Saint Laurent's Sac de jour. I just wasn't entirely sure about the gold hardware (I love to mix metals but I am more of a silver girl) - so I hesitated.
Then, Saint Laurent made a new version of the Sac de jour, in grained leather – and with silver hardware. And I knew I had found my bag. Eventually, I went for the medium size because it comes with a shoulder strap, and I know that I need to be able to throw my bag over my shoulder when I use it everyday (even a sophisticated tote bag).

I found mine via Farfetch. It arrived only two days after I had placed my order, and so far I am very happy with it. I must admit, it is a bit of a change that I cannot just cram my supermarket shopping in my handbag (yes, I tend to do that when I stop by the supermarket after work and I did not think of bringing a canvas bag. Shame on me). The compartments of le Sac de jour are quite narrow and limited – big enough for my wallet, cosmetic bag, organiser, phone, keys and chewing gum, but now big enough to put an apple or yoghurt in (a smoothie bottle, however, works). But maybe it's better that way.
