Christmas gifts

We've taken a rather long Christmas break (sorry for the lack of new posts). Hope you had happy holidays. I just wanted to share some of the lovely presents I have received with you. I can really recommend the book "Banksy Wall and Piece" - it made me grin all the time I was leafing through it. His ideas are brilliant! (The book made me want to try the "museum art" myself ...)

Wild things

We went to see "Where the Wild Things Are" today and I loved it so so much! To be honest, it is my second favourite film this year and I wouldn't mind watching it again right now.
Along with the wonderful images I fell in love with the soundtrack. So here's one of the film's brilliant songs by Karen O and the Kids!

If you want to know something about the making of the film, I can recommend Dazed Digital's interview with the producer Vincent Landay.

Show me your New Year's Outfit

When the girls from "Les Mads" made the call "Show me your Silvester Outfit", I quickly put together the above look (in lack of my cocktail dresses within reach). The glitter skirt is from Topshop (again), the hair piece and tights are from H&M. You can see all looks here! There are some great ideas!
I don't know if this will actually be my outfit for New Year's... in the end it'll depend on the party (which is not yet decided) and -maybe- on the weather.

My Milk Toof

Everyone who has not seen Inhae's Blog "My Milk Toof" yet: go and enjoy it right now! Her photos and ideas are totally amazing - I'm always baffled by the enormous effort she must be making for the stories and by her love for details. This is probably the cutest "toy" blog ever.

All pictures belong to Inhae.

New shoes

Say hello to my new shoes from Topshop! They might not be "appropriate" for the icy, wet weather outside, but - oh well, I love them. I had been looking for a nice pair of brogues for ages and I feel in love with these because of their matt leather. The fur collar is from Zara (it's fake, of course, I wouldn't wear real fur).

Jade Nails

I don't think there's ever been such a hype about a nail polish before CHANEL's green Jade - I personally love it because it's so fresh and different - but as we all know, the original is hard to get... Luckily you can already find several lookalikes in the shops (if they havn't sold out yet).
I recently got my hands on "Mint Candy Apple" from Essie. Although the colour is so light and spring-summerly, I think it goes well with my black and grey winter looks.

Music Love: Vampire Weekend

I'm so excited about Vampire Weekend's new album, which will be released in January 2010. You can download their new song "Horchata" for free here!

Personal Art Gallery

Since I can't help buying postcards whenever I visit an art gallery, I have accumulated a quite extensive collection of small prints and cards. And as I don't want them to lead a barren existence in a dark box, I have created a little "gallery" in my room. The pictures change from time to time - depending on my most recent finds. How do you like it?

My Style Icon of the Year

Alexa Chung is my favourite fashion icon of 2009. I really admire her style and I think she's incredibly amazing.
Souvenirs put together a nice collection of Alexa style pictures in her blog. Check it out!
The above picture is from Harper's Bazaar UK (May 2009).

Try this in your bank

Here's a little video for everyone who loved the film "500 Days of Summer" (one of my favourites this year).

Illustration: Glimpses into my sketchbook

Some scribbled pages: Streetstyle and birds. I'm kind of obsessed with birds at the moment. I can't wait till it snows and I can lure them into the birdhouse in our garden. :)

Flohmarktfünde

I went to a flea market on Sunday and got two old postcards and antique china. I love it all and it cost me like 50 cents. :)

T-Shirts & Prints

I have a thing for "illustrated" plain T-Shirts. Here are some of my current favourites.
First picture: My new shirt - an invitation to a masked ball - from H&M (left) and a similar "antique" design from Urban Outfitters (right).
Second picture: The new creation from 5 Preview (left) - it will be available in their online shop in December 2009, I personally like it a lot. On the right, the best version of the Wolf shirt I have seen in ages. It's from Lazy Oaf (brilliant as usually).
Third picture: If you (like me) cannot wait for "Where the Wild Things are", this is the shirt to get! It's from Urban Outfitters again. On the right: Danny Roberts' beautiful illustrated shirt. Almost a classic.

Illustration: Mademoiselle Pandora

This drawing is dedicated to the adorable Louise Ebel aka Miss Pandora. It's crayons and watercolour. Unfortunately some of it is missing because my scanner was too small for the entire picture and it could not capture all nuances.

I'm also in LCF's "Pigeons & Peacocks" Blog!

My new skirt

I bought a new skirt today. It's from H&M and it's perfect if you want to look like a ballet dancer. At the moment there are lots of tull skirts and ruffle dresses in H&M which make nice budget party pieces.

Spring Dreaming – Paris

Surprise, it's sunny today! I can actually see the blue sky. That makes me think of spring...
This year in spring I went to Paris and it was lovely. I suppose Paris is beautiful any time of the year but nothing beats a hot day in the "jardin des tuileries", when everybody is sitting around the big pond and enjoying the sun.
Above are a few pictures from my trip. They show some my favourite spots, among them: Laduree, Chanel in Rue Cambon, Chateau de Versailles, and the vintage shop Fripes Star in le Marais.
