The new denim

Once again, denim plays a central role in the new season's fashion. We saw indigo coloured denim head-to-toe on the catwalks, witnessed the high-waist flared jeans' return from the Seventies and we embraced a new kind of jeans: the new boyfriend jeans. Contrary to the very baggy, unflattering "boyfriend jeans" we saw everywhere a few years ago, the new boyfriend jeans are only slightly loose, come with a vintage appeal and make you look like you actually borrowed your man's jeans. They're laid-back, while still looking feminine.

Levi's gave their classic "501" a little makeover and created the "501 CT" (first picture), whereas Acne was way ahead of the game with the "Pop Vintage" jeans, which have already been around for  a few seasons. Other new boyfriend jeans include (from top to bottom): Topshop's "Moto Mid-Stone Hayden" jeans, Frame's "Le Garcon" jeans, Steve J & Yoni P's "boyfriend" jeans (keep an eye on this Korean design duo), and H&M's "Girlfriend jeans".

It's Fashion Week!

Fashion! Turn to the left. Fashion! Turn to the right. It's busy busy Fashion Week time. Here's a little Instagram diary from Berlin Fashion Week.

What I wore: faux fur from Asos (it's cold in Berlin in January), my Acne Pop jeans, Chanel Boy bag and Topshop wedge boots.

Great new place: "The Store" at Soho House. When you're in Berlin, check it out! Exciting selection of designer labels, beauty products and furniture, a beauty parlour and - my favourite - a restaurant that serves vegan and raw food and other healthy treats. I loved the pre-opening party.

Beautiful: fairy-tale wedding dresses from Kaviar Gauche and a little succulent garden at a fashion presentation.

Green cold-pressed juice from Daluma (another superfood place) in the H&M Sports showroom. What I wore: a leather jacket by BLK DNM, Isabel Marant dress and "Type 22" boots by Adieu.

Nice look by the young German fashion designer Malaika Raiss (always a sucker for knits and silky skirts).

What I wore: T-Shirt by Être Cécile, leather trousers by BLK DNM, camel coat by The Kooples, holographic clutch bag by Marc Cain.

Next winter I'll have to get this pink V-neck jumper by Stine Goya (I love that breast pocket so much)!

Interior wishlist

Reliably, with January comes the desire to clean, clear out and redecorate my home. I suppose I need to see the fresh start interior-wise, too. Here's what I'd love to add to my apartment now: fig, avocado and oak tree sprouts (I have already tried to grow an avocado tree several times and I will give it yet another shot), cord lamp by Design House Stockholm, even more scented candles, e.g. this one by Tom Dixon, table lamp by No Early Birds, cashmere plaid by Lala Berlin, copper balls by H. Skjalm P., marble prism by Studio Arhoj, and glass box by House Doctor.

Mini getaway

My boyfriend and me made it a tradition to start the new year with a mini getaway (well, at least we did it for the second time this year, so it seems to be becoming a tradition). For the ultimate relaxing start into the new year I recommend: find a beautiful hotel in your city - it must have a spa and sauna -, book a large room (including breakfast) and a spa treatment, relax in the sauna, have dinner in the hotel restaurant, don't leave the hotel until late-checkout demands it. I guarantee you will leave with your energy levels refuelled.

This weekend we stayed in "Gastwerk Hotel", in Hamburg. The building alone, a rebuilt former factory, provides an unusual experience, and the same applies for the tasteful loft style rooms (we stayed in the junior suite). I especially liked the hotel's spa area. Three to four hours of taking a sauna, dozing and reading really do wonders.

Are you googling design hotels in your city yet?
