Meeting the deer Part 2

... the funny thing was that right after I had bought the little deer I found it in an illustration on the wall of a cake shop! (See it?) Isn't that crazy? I wonder if it's the very same one ... :)
As I found out, the beautiful picture was done by the illustrator/ graphic designer Marei Schweitzer.

O deer!

So, I was quite productive this morning. First I protested against nuclear energy – then I went to a local flea market, where I found the sweetest kitschy little deer ever. I'm so happy to welcome it in my home. What you can see to its hooves is what was hidden in the white paper box: a necklace by the jewellery designer Pliet S.H. . I love her and I think you'll get to see more from her soon.
(I don't remember where I found the pretty picture of the peonies. Does anyone know whom I have to give credits to?)

Something new and something blue

I treated myself to this beautiful bow tie today – and to something else. But that's still hidden in its box. I'll show you what it is later.

Summer favourites

A couple of days ago, the amazing illustrator Kris Atomic did a guest post on "A Cup of Joe" in which she illustrated her summer favourites. And guess what, they coincide with mine: outdoor dining, peonies, and summer clothes (including the all-time-favourite Breton shirt). :) Of course I had to share it with you.

a day at the seaside

Some impressions from my 24 hours by the sea on the northernmost island of Germany.

I'm off ...

... to the seaside for the following two days to sit in the sand, watch the waves, eat some fish and breathe some air. Have a lovely weekend, whatever you are doing!

Abigail's Birds

Well, I don't know if you like birds as much as I do – and I like them a lot – but no matter how big your affection for these feathery creatures is, I think you will be equally enchanted by Abigail Brown's birds. They are all hand-crafted in her London studio – robins, tomtits, flamingos, peacocks, owls, ... you name it, she can do it. Abigail sews them from different fabrics, sometimes even old pyjamas or curtains. She also has an etsy shop, by the way.

Double Exposure

You can achieve amazing effects with double exposure in photography (I do it more or less accidentally with my Lomo all the time) – but it looks even more impressive used in paintings! Pakayla Rae Biehn has done a "Double Exposure Series" which is – just incredibly beautiful. "My love for you ..." visited her in her studio and gives some great insights into her techniques and work. I want one of her paintings for my bedroom wall.
... I know this blog is quite arty at the moment – I promise there'll be more fashion posts soon!

All the ...

"James Gulliver Hancock feels horrible when he's not drawing. He panics that he may not be able to draw everything in the world, at least once." – I love this sentence in his bio.
Okay, as you might know, I can go completely crazy over sketchbooks and excellent drawings or scribbles and I know I recommend artists here all the time - BUT James Gulliver Hancock's illustrations really deserve some excitement! I mean look at these fine lines! The vibrancy! He has also done a brilliant series on chandeliers in Vienna and typewriters in Paris which you should definitely have a look at.

Miso's sketchbooks

I love Miso's streetart because it looks so pretty and kind of mystic (check it out on her website) – I am happy she shares her beautiful sketchbooks as well!

Staying focused

It does not seem like it in this photo, but I actually enjoy trying clothes. ;) What I am wearing: 80s style leather jacket by the Danish label Vila, shirt by Marc Jacobs, jeans by Topshop and ballet flats. (I know, the perspective in this photo makes me look like a dwarf).
